Who are the Eurofaeries?

EuroFaeries-vlinder-kleur-op-witThe EuroFaeries is a movement of gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-gendered people and their supporters, who believe that all gay people have a unique identity and cultural heritage within humanity. The movement strives to help people discover that identity and heritage by offering a safe space and diverse opportunities for individual, creative and spiritual growth.

Currently, the EuroFaeries produces an annual programming of meetings, circles, workshops and a few international gatherings, among other events. Although so far most activities are concentrated in France and the Netherlands, there are quite a few events in Germany and England. In addition, the EuroFaerie network extends further than Western Europe to countries such as Estonia and the Ukraine, and also connects back to it’s roots with the Radical Faeries in North America.

Quiet Gathering, 7 – 14 July 2013, Folleterre

Quiet Gathering, 7 – 14 July 2013, Folleterre

Come join us and gather amongst the magical forest to relax, recharge and reconnect.

This gathering is not a silent retreat, but more a space to explore connection to mind, body & spirit. It is a journey of unfolding into awareness of self, others and nature.

There will be many ways to explore connection on the land, including heart circles, sacred sound, yoga, nature walks, arts & crafts, sweat lodge, meditation, massage, dress making, gardening and whatever YOU want to offer.

Faeries of every description are welcome. Food will be vegetarian or vegan and we request that this is an alcohol and substance free gathering so that we can explore conscious connection with ourselves and each other.

The guide for contribution is between €160 to €320, but please be as generous as you can. We have a ‘no one turned away for lack of funds’ (notaflof) policy, as is the faerie tradition.

The number of faeries on the land will be limited to 30 for the gathering on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and we ask that faeries who attend make the intention to stay for the whole event, from opening to closing. The open ceremony will commence at noon on 8th July and the closing ceremony before the evening meal on 13th July.

Gathering organisers are Feather Pup, Coconuts, Cuddleslut and Absinthe. For more information or to register please email: quietgathering2013@folleterre.org

First Community Gathering of the year

First Community Gathering of the year

Folleterre, APRIL 14 / 24

The first practical Folleterre community days of 2013 will take place quite early this year, before Beltane. When green is still very green and the ground will be covered by hundreds of white wild anemones, followed by wild garlic leaf, primrose and marsh marigolds. Last fall part of the pine production on our land was heavily thinned out by a lumber company. They left a number of trees which we marked to save and which will keep monumental value. Especially in the years to come when we will bring in a more diverse mixture of leaf trees that will mingle in more naturally than the dominating long and dark rows with no undergrowth at all. Everybody with a feel for the outdoors, or with a drive to tackle indoor renovation jobs, or with supportive household and or kitchen skills, is greatly welcomed to join. By planting a tree you can really leave a personal landmark. Many trees that will live more than 100 years, will still be there after you left this earth and still purify air, and house a great diversity of bird- and insectlife. Next to garden- and land jobs we might also continue doing more renovation carpentry work inside the house.

The income that we received from commercial timber is reserved to improve our water source system. In the first place to secure a more continuous supply of safe drinking water and secondly, after more funds are raised or saved, to built a permanent shower and toilet system indoors. At this time the administrative council and stewards are still in debate with contractors and specialists to find the most effective method. The most simple solution; expanding the source uphill with a larger water reservoir plus a double filter system does now prove, due to a irregular surface water flow, not the best solution. So presently we are investigating alternative options. If things work out within the time frame that we have planned, we can possibly assist getting the water project done this spring.

Please let me know that you are coming, as soon as you have definite plans by using this special email address : communityweek@folleterre.org If for whatever reason you cannot contribute physically please consider to donate financially. On the folleterre website you will find a link how. Let’s have a productive start of the year and celebrate the first beautiful spring community days together.
with love, Junis

Featherstone Castle 2013 Gathering Call

Featherstone Castle 2013 Gathering Call
Featherstone Castle 2013 Gathering Call

Good day gentle beings, of all shapes, sizes, genders, nationalities, species and planet of origin.

Here is the ‘Call’ for the 2013 featherstone event.

2012 is rattling toward its close……perhaps one of the most uncertain collections of months modern humans have faced…. a time when change is being demanded and when people are growing in number who believe a hug has greater value than a credit card.

Once again, I have great pleasure in presenting the Eurofaeries Featherstone castle event, 10 days of fun frolics, glitter, music, hugs, love, great food, fantastic company – from across the globe.

The Eurofaeries attract a massive diversity of people from all walks of life, skills, specialities each with their own gifts.

The events themselves follow the successful formula of a mix of pre planned and ad hock activities arranged throughout, there could be bread making, body painting, singing and much dancing, from ball room to flamenco, from disco to gangnam.
There will be those who wish to sit quietly – absorbing the atmosphere – maybe while reading a book…. others will want to dress in fabulous clothes and dance, play or entertain. An Auction will probably happen, which helps raise funds to keep costs within everyone’s reach. the Auctions can include anything, from a memento from home, to a service that might be performed during the event, so all faeries with all levels of income can contribute to this important part of the event.

Were looking for our own membership to find among themselves and volunteer a kitchen faerie, who will be asked to watch and maintain kitchen supplies, overseeing/supporting others who may wish to step forward and cook for everyone.

These are full community events, where we will cater for and clean up after one another. We will decorate the castle to our own tastes and bring sparkles of magic to a beautiful and loved…. if slightly aged and wobbly castle!

You can check out the link above which will take you directly to our site and a booking form

And if you use facebook, dont forget to link yourself to the featherstone 2013 Facebook page.

A Lumberjanes Gathering Report from White Rose

A Lumberjanes Gathering Report from White Rose

I just returned from the Lumberjanes’ gathering at Folleterre. It’s my habit to post a gathering report when I come back from the land, for those who couldn’t be there. I expect Junis will post a report too, in time.

My first impression upon arriving on the mountain was dramatic! Tazio stopped the car at the bend in the road, at the bottom of our driveway, just next to Lanai’s land. I didn’t recognise it. Where there had been dense pine forest on both sides, now there is a wide open rolling hillside. The tree-felling machine had begun its work! Our telegraph pole, with its Faerie banners and markers, now stands alone like a proud totem. We are no longer hidden.

For me, the next few days were involved with the Stewards’ Circle. We took three days in fact – I think that’s a record! But we probably arranged a record amount of business, too. We also arranged an exciting calendar of gatherings. I have agreed to be the Gatherings Princess this year, and will help the various organisers as best I can!

Whilst the Stewards were meeting, Fagus led other Faeries in a range of tasks to improve and maintain the land. There is a new Valley Garden, where once there was an overgrown swamp. There are ever more paths and camping spaces, and the land is cleared, tidied and pruned for Winter.

Alongside all this work we made time for lots of pleasure and play. Perhaps it helped that there were more Faeries than we usually have for a work week – twenty or so – bringing lots of energy, extra hands and new ideas. We ate well, we sunbathed in 23* heat, we enjoyed tantra and magical sex, fire-songs and Autumn sunsets. Finally we stomped through the first snows on Saturday morning, just as we closed the gathering.

The land is transformed as we leave it to rest over Winter. We now inhabit a beautiful open hillside. One day soon it will become a lush meadow, a fruitful orchard, a Faerie grotto. But for now it is an empty new space, bald and bright in the mountain sun. The machine that did all this was a marvel to behold, both fascinating and terrifying in its own way. It cleared the forest at a rate of about one tree per minute. It was precise and ruthlessly efficient. Thankfully it was controlled by a man, who understood and respected that this is our home. He left standing all those trees which were marked with ribbons, meaning that the hill is not entirely plain. We still have a mix of native trees and a few tall pines dotted around, as a reminder of what was once here. It was important that we held a candle-lit vigil in our pine forest, the night before it was cut, to allow the spirits there to find new homes before the machine arrived.

From destruction, come new beginnings. In April next year – 14th to 24th April – we will hold our biggest-ever community week, when we will begin to heal the land, plant new trees, and work to bring clean drinking water into the house. If you come to at least one gathering next year, please come then. It will be beautiful.

Fagus is leaving us now (more or less!) as he starts a new life in America. He’ll be back from time to time – but it’s bitter-sweet to see him go.

I also think of Junis, as he helps his family through painful times, and I think of Absinth who recently lost his mother, and was unable to join us for the gathering. Many of us will be thinking of Shokti and EW too, who are both experiencing illness and discomfort.

All of you, stay well and stay strong as we turn towards Winter. But it’s not just any old Winter; it’s the Winter Solstice of 2012! Please, make the very best of it that you can.

With love,

White Rose.

Community Gathering Lumber Days October 20 / 27 2012

Community Gathering Lumber Days October 20 / 27 2012

What has often been described as the best days on the land; late summer and fall, might happen again during the Lumber Jane’s and Jack’s outdoor activities and festivities !

Together with neighboring Lanai land, a professional clear cut of the commercial pine tree plantation is about to happen in the coming weeks. This will give us a new chance to bring in more diversity and to connect naturally with the surrounding State Forest, which has a protected nature reserve status. Another most exciting aspect will be a new view of the valley below us, making it possible to cast the eye many kilometers into the horizon.

Directly connected to this project is another project; the installation of a large water reservoir on the opened land 50 meter up hill, with a filter system and a pipe line to the house. This will be the first step towards new installations indoors, like toilets and showers.

At this stage the start- and ending dates of contract work are not set yet, possibly we can still assist technicians with the installation, otherwise we will have the following tasks to choose from :

* Production of firewood for the kitchen stove and wood burning stoves in the house.
* Cutting back more ash turning it to coppice.
* Clearing the land after the lumber company has left.
* Making inventory and marking new forest patches, meadows and a planned new orchard.
* Pruning all fruit trees, new and old apple and pear trees, a chance to learn a new skill!
* Watermanagement , clearing ditches and canals, assuring correct drainage and water flows.
* Prepare the flower and vegetable garden for winter and next spring.

Faeries young and not so young be all very wellcome ! Even when you think you cannot contribute physically outdoors, there are plenty of other ways to share what you can do best. To mention a few; cooking, pampering, assisting, massaging, painting, carpentry, shopping, or just enjoying yourself and entertaining others. We will make sure that everybody works in his or her own comfortable tempo, with enough leasure time to enjoy the beauty of the season while going for instance on mushroom hunting tours..

Plan your stay before the end of september and let us know as soon as possible by email : lumber2012@folleterre.org ( email response active first week of september)
Costs usually will turn out as low as € 10,- a day. ( nobody turned away for lack of funds, but try to pay what you can)
I will be on the land most of october and have limited access to the internet. After recieving your registration we will get back to you with more information, like; car sharing, directions, what to bring, address and telephone.
Wishing you all, beautiful late summer days,
Junis
Fagus
